For beginner skydivers in the Netherlands, the Static Line course was previously quite popular. This is a course where the parachute automatically opens via a line attached to the aircraft. However, nowadays, almost everyone chooses the modern AFF course (Accelerated Freefall). AFF is a skydiving course for beginners, where you make 7 freefall jumps of 55 seconds.
Getting Serious About Skydiving
In short, this course means you start skydiving seriously right away. We don’t do this in the Netherlands, but in Southern Europe! Of course, there is first a ground school where we go over the basics. Only when we are sure you’re ready to make a freefall jump, we go up in the air. At an altitude of 4 kilometers, you make your first freefall jump under the guidance of our instructors. After 6 jumps, you can skydive solo, without guidance, and you will receive a recognized skydiving certificate. In total, you make 7 jumps with this course because you get one jump for free from us. Currently, AFF is the best and fastest course to get skydiving down well and safely.
Book a Skydiving Course Combined with a Vacation
You can take a skydiving course at various locations in the Netherlands, but have you ever thought about combining your course with an active vacation in France and Morocco? At Airboss, you can exclusively book a course in combination with a vacation in these countries. How does it work? Simple. First, you decide which trip and course you want to follow. In the winter, we go to Morocco in Africa, and in the summer, you can spend your vacation in Royan (France).
Learn Skydiving in a Unique Way
The great thing about combining a skydiving course with an international vacation is that you learn to skydive in a unique way. From your first jump, you literally dive into the sensation of freefall, and then enjoy the view once the parachute opens. Plus, you get to meet a lot of cool people who are on the same adventure as you. You will stay together in our vacation accommodation, and besides skydiving, there is plenty of time to relax and explore the area!
The skydiving course begins with ground training. In half a day, you will learn essential techniques such as stable freefall, altitude awareness, mastering the reserve procedure, and correctly deploying the main parachute. Steering and landing are also practiced.
1
First Skydive
Together with two instructors, you will fly to 4200 meters. They will guide you throughout the entire freefall. The freefall lasts about 1 minute. During each jump, they will correct your position and pay attention to every detail. Video recordings are made of all jumps.
2
Second Skydive
If the first jump went well, you will go up with one instructor. The program for the second jump is the same as the first. The goal is to refine the details discussed after the video debriefing of the first jump.
3
Third Skydive
During this jump, you will learn to rotate 360 degrees left and right on your instructor’s command. This is called heading control.
4
Fourth Skydive
Many participants find this jump the most fun of the course. Upon exit from the plane, you will perform three forward flips, and then, on your instructor’s command, rotate 360 degrees left and right.
5
Fifth Skydive
It gets more exciting because you will be able to do even more. You will learn to fly on your back in freefall and perform flips—both forward and backward. You will also practice tracking, which means flying forward at high speed.
6
Sixth Skydive
Exam jump. You get to demonstrate everything you have learned in freefall. If you pass, you can start jumping solo. Yeah!
