Morocco – information for your skydiving holiday

Fantastic that you’re joining us in Morocco. This page contains all the practical information you need to arrive prepared. We wish you an unforgettable skydiving holiday in welcoming Morocco.

Key points

  • Passport valid for 6 months. Travel insurance must include skydiving/sports cover.
  • Time difference varies. Usually 1 hour earlier than NL in summer, often no difference in winter.
  • Pick-up from Casablanca Airport to Beni Mellal. Meeting point is in the arrivals hall.
  • Cash is useful alongside card/ATM. You can withdraw money at the airport.
  • WhatsApp group link is shared ~7 days before departure.

Flight & transfer

After a ~4-hour flight from Schiphol you’ll land in Casablanca. Our driver will be waiting in the arrivals hall with an “Airboss” sign. The drive to Beni Mellal takes about 3.5–4 hours. A short stop is possible.

  • Delayed? Send a WhatsApp message to Airboss right away.

Respecting local culture

Morocco is warm, safe and hospitable. Please respect local customs and choose appropriate clothing. Keep valuables out of sight and use a safe where possible.

Travel documents

Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months on departure from Morocco. A tourist visa is not required for Dutch and Belgian citizens for short stays.

Currency & payments

The official currency is the Moroccan dirham (MAD). ATMs are available at Casablanca airport. Withdraw about €300–€400 on arrival for local expenses. Cards are often accepted at the hotel, but cash is handy for small purchases and tips.

Calling & data

Roaming can be expensive. Buy a local SIM in the arrivals hall at Casablanca or use an eSIM for Morocco.

Time difference with the Netherlands

The time difference varies:

  • Summer: Morocco is usually 1 hour earlier than the Netherlands.
  • Winter: often no difference.
  • Around Ramadan: Morocco can temporarily be 1 hour earlier.

Tip: check the current time in Beni Mellal during the week before departure.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are not mandatory for Morocco. Some are recommended depending on your situation. Please consult your GP or a travel clinic.

Clothing & gear

Light layers for daytime; evenings and early mornings can be cool. Bring layers and a warm sweater/hoodie.

  • Shoes: low, sturdy sneakers. Avoid hooks/loose laces that can snag.
  • Sun: sunscreen, sunglasses and a reusable water bottle.
  • Dry air: lip balm helps prevent chapped lips.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my own skydiving gear?
Yes. Bring your licence, logbook and your rig’s log cards. Make sure your reserve is in date.
An AAD is strongly recommended and may be required by the dropzone. Not sure? Ask in the WhatsApp group beforehand.
How do I pay for extras (coach slot, pack jobs, rental)?
Extras are invoiced afterwards. Small expenses (food/tips) are often easiest in MAD cash; withdrawing at the airport is simplest.
Card payments are widely possible, but plan to have some cash as well.
What if my flight is delayed or I miss the pick-up?
Let us know immediately in the WhatsApp group or call Airboss.
We’ll arrange an alternative transfer with the driver. The meeting point remains the arrivals hall in Casablanca.
Can I bring a drone and film?
Drones in Morocco often require permits. Please do not bring a drone unless this is pre-approved with us and our local partner.
Filming at the DZ may be possible on request—ask the team.
What power plugs and voltage are used in Morocco?
Mains power is 220–230V / 50Hz. Sockets are usually Type C/E. Most European chargers work fine.
When in doubt, bring a universal adapter.
Which documents might I be asked to show on arrival?
Always: your passport (min. 6 months validity) and travel insurance with skydiving/sports cover.
For experienced jumpers: licence, KNVvL membership (digital is fine), logbook and rig log cards if using your own gear.
