AFF or Airwareness:
how to choose the course that fits you
Last updated: 29 November 2025

The bottom line:
Learning to skydive is an adventure, but which course fits you best? At Airboss we offer two strong options: the AFF course and the Airwareness + A licence program. You do not need any experience for either course. Here you will read what the differences are, so you can choose the route that fits you.
- The AFF course is short and intensive. In one week you take the step towards solo skydiving.
- The Airwareness + A licence program is more extensive. You make at least 25 jumps in two weeks and complete your A licence.
- You can follow both courses on dream locations in France or Morocco, with full focus and a holiday vibe.
AFF: your first step into solo skydiving
The AFF course (Accelerated Freefall) is the ideal way for beginners to learn how to skydive independently. You start with 7 jumps under the guidance of experienced instructors and learn all the basic principles of the jump: body position, stability, altitude awareness, how to deploy your parachute and how to land safely.
After completing the course you receive an AFF certificate that is recognised worldwide as an entry level in the sport. Your A licence comes next, once you have made at least 25 jumps in total and meet all requirements. The jumps from your AFF course count towards that total.
The AFF course takes one week and is intensive, but perfect if you want to learn to jump independently in a short time and take a clear first step into the sport.
Perfect for you if:
- You have never jumped before, but want to learn to jump solo quickly.
- You want to feel the freedom of solo skydiving.
- You are looking for a shorter, intensive course.
Airwareness + A licence: the full package
Do you want to develop your skydiving skills further and go straight through to your A licence? Then the Airwareness + A licence program is your best choice. This route starts with the AFF course and then guides you step by step towards your first licence.
In total you make at least 25 jumps during Airwareness. You not only do your first solo jumps, but really build flight time: canopy control, flying patterns, refining your landings, practising emergency procedures and building more confidence under canopy.
The Airwareness + A licence program takes two weeks. You use that time to learn in a good rhythm, to repeat, to debrief with video and to grow steadily in the sport.
It is important to know that the foundation of both courses is the same. In both routes you work in small groups with intensive coaching. With Airwareness you mainly choose more time and more jumps in one period, so you can work towards your A licence in a single continuous trajectory.
Once you have your A licence you move from independently jumping student to officially licensed skydiver. You have built a solid foundation and it becomes easier to move into other disciplines within the sport.
Choose this option if:
- You do not only want a taste of the sport, but want to go straight through to your A licence.
- You want to build experience with more jumps and different conditions.
- You are ready for a complete learning experience with extra depth and coaching.
